Стоит ли много о ней рассказывать ...
Но вот что пишет Википедия о ней:
Как и у многих народных песен, исток этой песни не однозначен.
Самый старый вариант известен как Rising Sun Blues исполненный Clarence Ashley & Gwen Foster, и записанный на Vocalion-Label (#2576), 6 сентября 1933 года.
Ashley позже рассказывал. что слышал её от своего деда, Enoch Ashley.
Скорее всего английские переселенцы принесли эту мелодию в Америку со своей родины.
Где она известна как детская, народная баллада "Matthy Groves".
Впервые она была записана (на бумаге) в „Wit and Drollery“ в 1658 году.
Эта баллада в основе своей похожа на Knight of the Burning Pestle, исполненная в драме Francis Beaumont и John Fletcher 1613 года.
Как бы там ни было, но мы наслаждаемся ей до сих пор.
